Preparing For An MRI Due to today's technology, MRI examinations require no special preparation or medication prior to the procedure. However, here are some things that you should do prior to arriving at the center:

* Take your normal medications and eat as you usually do.

* Avoid wearing restrictive clothing, particularly belts, buckles and/or anything with metal.

* Advise your physician if you have a pacemaker, prosthesis, surgical clips, metal implants, piercings or any other metal objects in, or on, your body.

* Leave metal objects at home such as jewelry, watches, coins, keys, hairpins and clips, pocketknives and credit cards.

* Avoid wearing eye makeup (metal flakes can be found in some eye shadows).
